Judith McKay-Kowalski's celebration of life
The Tai Chi community and, in particular, the Tai Chi and Chi Kung students in Barrie Ontario recently lost one of its greatest proponents of Eastern studies. Judith Anne McKay-Kowalski passed away unexpectedly in her home on March 13, 2022 at the age of 81.
Judith was a member and active supporter of the Canadian Taijiquan Federation (CTF) since 1994 and served on its Board as Secretary from 2010 to 2012. She participated in many events sponsored by the CTF, including AGM events, Lunar New Year celebrations and summer retreats in Paris and Brantford, Ontario.
Judith's own home-based Chenoa Studio ("Links to Wellness") opened in 1986. She taught Living in Harmony with Nature, a subject near to her heart. Judith taught many students over the years in such widespread topics as Meditation, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung, some of whom went on the set up their own practices. Since 1996 her teachings also took place at Georgian College in Barrie and Orillia where she set up and practiced college-level courses in Tai Chi, Mental Health and Native Health.
In 1994 she received her Tai Chi Chuan Fa Teacher Certificate from David Lau (Lau Yiu Lam) of the Huang Zhong Taijiquan Group in Toronto. IN 2009 she earned a Teacher Certificate in Taiji Qigong 18 Form Shibashi from Wing Cheung of the Tai Chi Qigong & Feng Shui Institute. In 2012 she received the Senior Level Instructor Certificate from CTF.

Her teachings and studies in Eastern philosophies only reinforced her beliefs in the connectedness of everything in the universe. As she journeys on, she will be sorely missed by everyone.
